I work in the territory of Quw’utsun Mutiimuhw - Cowichan Peoples - whose lands were taken and colonized by Canada in a host of actions that have not been rectified. The Hul’qumi’num Treaty Group — Cowichan Tribes, Halalt First Nation, Ts’uubaa-asatx First Nation, Lyackson First Nation, and Penelakut Tribe - continues unresolved treaty talks with British Columbia and Canada. All events I hold acknowledge the rights of Indigenous people (First Nations, Metis, Inuit) and the ongoing wound and injustice our communities must mend. My work supports the full decolonization of our society and reparations for harms done.
